Shenhua gets nod to build Zhuhai coal facility

16 July, 2012
Hong Kong:
The National Development and Reform Commission has greenlighted the first-stage of China Shenhua Energy's construction project at Zhuhai port. Shenhua will build a coal storage and transportation centre at the port costing RMB4.57bn with two 100,000 dwt berths, one 50,000 dwt berth and four 3,000 dwt berths giving the facility an annual capacity of 40.8m tonnes.

Shenhua says the investment “will ease the tense situation of coal terminal capacity in Guangdong province and improve the regional supply level”.
Around China massive stocks of coal are spilling out of the nation’s ports as utilities have eased back on consumption in recent months.
